Gone .. but not forgotten
These watches were loved. I let them go to make room and help fund other purchases. Mostly these watches were lunch money buys off the web. I don’t think I made much money from selling them. I don’t collect to make money, just for fun. All of the watches went to good homes of people who love watches as much as I do. The dates of manufacture are my best guess. I can’t verify them, cause I didn’t keep the serial numbers.
The collection as of Thanksgiving 2002
This is the entire collection then. Great shot right?
Seiko DX
1973 6106-5529. Cant tell from the pic, but the face changes colors in the light, like a hologram. It needed cleaning up in this picture. Funky watch to wear, lots of fun.
Seiko Seahorse
1967 7625-8021. I purchased it because it reminded me of the Sportsman that is still in the collection. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to the original. It always annoyed me that there was discolloration around the edges of the dial. But you cant expect too much from a lunch money buy.
Speedo Seiko
1976 6309-8070. This was the Speedo watch. I saw this one on Ebay and had to have it. Its a large watch that was pretty heavy. The band was thin, as was the style and doesn’t help support the watch very well. Not many like it out there. The face was in great shape and the crystal was real thick. I was sad to see this one go.
Seiko Sportsmatic
1966 7619-7010. I put a leather band on this watch shortly after purchasing it. This watch is sort of dressy and has a picture of a dolphin on the caseback. This is a fairly popular and sought after watch. I didn’t keep it partly because the dial was lightly spotted, although the picture doesn’t really show that. Was I too picky? Maybe.
Swiss Seiko
Here is a 4s15 dress watch. Bought it because I love the movement that powers this watch. But the case was very thin. So eventhough it has a great movement, which Seiko puts in its very high end watches I was unimpressed. For me, the case and face didn’t live up to the movement. This one came and went quickly. I didnt even have time to take my own picture.
