Yes, I do in fact have my iPhone, and guess what… I LOVE IT. Actually, I believe my actual quote was: “Ugh, pure sex”.

So, I woke up early on Friday and headed out to the Eastlake Apple Store about 8:20 a.m. When I got there the line went half way around building, so I wasted little time in finding parking. For about 5 hours I stood in line with some really cool Apple fanboys (and fangirls). I should have brought a chair, my sunglasses, some sunscreen and should have eaten something. But it didnt matter, we were all a little high.

Top 10 reasons I love this phone:

10. I can play streaming audio files on the web (see screen shot above).
9. I can play YouTube videos.
8. I can Access my employers web based email.
7. Really cool games like Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D.
6. Very good and free RSS reader.
5. Ability to view html email, not just the text based fallback.
4. One place to find lots of cool applications (iTunes App Store).
3. Its so f-in thin, shiny and .
2. I can jump to any point in an song or podcast (if you think this isnt important try listening to 20 hours of podcasts every week without it)
1. The interface is so shiny… and sleek… and slidy… and UGH PURE SEX!

Stay tuned for more on the iPhone soon.

Negrito has been waiting a looong time to get his hands on the iPhone. For a long time, it was just too darned expensive. Well, unless youve been living under a rock, you know that the new 3G iPhone is on its way, and has an entry point of only $199 …WOOT! I just can wait anymore, I must have one. This is the first of my accessories and/or software reviews for the iPhone.

MY mind is already spinning on what I will do once I get my hands on one (16GB, black, thank you very much). Sometime over last year I came across Gelaskins and decided to squirrel away the URL for when I could use it. If you have an iPod, iPod Touch, original Phone, Apple laptop or are planning to get the new iPhone, take a look at Gelaskins. Why? Well, instead of making a one or two color case, of which there are many, Gelaskins partners with artists to create some really beautiful skins that protect your device from scratches and scuffs. The skins are removable and reusable (if treated very carefully) and wont leave behind a sticky film or residue. I love the edgyness of the artists and the fact that they give you a home screen wallpaper that matches the skin. Skip on over to their site, I think you will find the skins as cool as I do.

(It doesn’t look like they have cases for the new iPhone just yet, but I am sure they will be forthcoming.)

I got turned on to Flip Video products while attending a class on producing and publishing screencasts. The instructor was nice enough to let me take a look at his and I was definetely impressed. Once in hand it was very easy to quickly shoot some video and then watch it on the screen. Indeed that is what the Flip video is best at: a quick and easy way to get videos (with sound) captured and ready for sharing. On top of that its small and seems pretty durable. Toss it in a bag or your pocket so you can quickly whip it out to capture moments that otherwise you couldnt.

Now that I have had some time to take a look at the website it seems it has another trick up its sleeve. They have also made it very easy to share your videos. They have made the USB connector part of the device, so you don’t have to carry (and inevitably loose) a cable. They also have embedded in the device a simple interface for emailing/uploading/editing your videos quickly. You can upload to YouTube, send via email, or just save right on your computer. Pretty nice!

Now for the negatives. Dont expect too much from the video quality. If you are trying to capture video while walking around you will probably see some jumpiness in the video. The lower priced versions run on AA batteries. If you have a decent digital camera you could also carry that. Although you may not feel as bad loosing or breaking the $149 device instead of that $350 camera.

Competitors: RCA Small Wonder, Creative Vado

The nice people in the cubes nearby mine at work thought I was a little nuts when I seemed to be laughing for no apparent reason earlier this week. Who or what was responsible for me looking like a wierdo? A new podcast that I heard about while listening to another podcast, MacBreak Weekly. MacBreak Weekly is a TWIT podcast hosted by the prolific techie Leo Laporte.

Enough name dropping, like I’m sure you guessed by the title of this post- the name of the podcast is You Look Nice Today: a Journal of Emotional Hygiene. Its an adult comedy podcast that if I had to guess will appeal more to men (fart jokes). Each podcast is a compilation of comedy vignettes, where the three hosts (lonelysandwich, scottsimpson, and hotdogsladies) basically riff off one another to make comedy gold. I absolutely love it and cant wait for them to post up their next installment.

The Podcast has even spawned a new dance that is sweeping the nation: The Fish Stick. Take a look at a video of one of the hosts demonstrating the dance over at Flickr. Its silly, but I will make sense once you listen to the podcasts.

I say start with the latest: Sacks-Minnelli Disease and then jump around as you please.
