Quick hit: HTC goodness

Rumors on the internets say that Cingular will soon (August?) replace the 8525 with the HTC Kaiser and that Cingular will name it the 8925. While the interface and body may not be as sexy as some other phones, the Kaiser definetly holds its own.

Kaiser phone

In fact, its the specs that got my attention:

  • Quad band UMTS / HSDPA / HSUPA: UMTS 800, UMTS 850, UMTS 1900, UMTS 2100
  • Quad band GSM / GPRS / EDGE: GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900
  • Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, A-GPS
  • GPS
  • 400 MHz Qualcomm 7200
  • Windows Mobile 6
  • 2 Cameras: 3.0 MP still/video camera with autofocus. VGA Video conferencing camera
  • Memory: 128 MB RAM, 256 MB ROM
  • Memory card: SDIO, microSD, TransFlash
  • Screen: 240×320, 2.8″ (42 x 57 mm) TFT-LCD

And for those of you who are saying “wha?” Aside from the hard drive this phone works on a faster network, its camera kicks butt, has GPS built in for turn by turn directions without any intervention by the user and is just plain faster. Also, it will most likely be sold for $300 with contract instead of $600.

Im not saying I dont lust after the iPhone… just find myself salivating over the Kaiser.
