Fireant
Looking for new ways to spend time with your computer? If you are, FireAnt is a cool program that allows you to capture video blogs (vlogs) using their RSS feeds. Think of vlogs as the video version of podcasts. I have been using FireAnt since I got my iBook and have found a whole new world. Originally I tried to use iTunes to download some of the videos but I found it lacking. Here is the deal, FireAnt can play nearly any video format while iTunes cannot. Also, I found that iTunes only lists certain vlogs, and when I went to look for more I had trouble finding them. FireAnt includes a directory that is searchable and helps you find interesting vlogs to subscribe to. Which is soo important because once I started watching vlogs I quickly became addicted. FireAnt also allows me to list all of my videos in one place and manage them easily. I get bored with regular TV alot, and now I have something else to watch!
Fireant has both a Mac and PC version available, so you Windows users need not dispair. Download the program, pick some vlogs and let the program get you up to date. There are some very interesting projects; some update daily, others weekly and others only when they have something interesting to say. Most of what I subscribe to is technology related, but not all. Take the jump, download FireAnt and see whats going on out there. If nothing else click on the links below for some of my favs and see whats available.
Here are some of my favorite video blogs:
